My teen and I are wild about bats. They have definitely received a bad rep over the last two years but they do so much good for our communities while getting so much hate (and destruction, unfortunately) from us. Let's show our love of bats today by A. leaving them alone, B. making bat houses for our properties (thank you for consuming the mosquitos!) and C. making bat crafts!

EDF’s board will hold a meeting in November to discuss moving forward with the Sizewell C project but is understandably cautious about spending tens of millions of dollars on the project without a firm commitment of additional funding from the U.K. government.

U.K. ministers are considering a deal that could end China’s project to build a twenty-eight-billion-dollar nuclear power plant on the Suffolk coast. Instead of accepting Chinese investment, they are considering the investment of tens of millions of dollars of taxpayer money. There are serious concerns that this could raise geopolitical tensions.
Humans tend to use a lot of animal parts in their lives, whether it's for medical, beauty, spiritual or other reasons. While I respect spiritual practices, I don't like any that cause harm or especially suffering to animals. Kambo is collected by shamans in a pretty humane way--it's scraped off the frog's legs before the frog is let go back in the wild. The problem with kambo, though, is that it's dangerous to humans.

It never fails to boggle my mind when I hear people using the Bible to justify everything from misogyny to homophobia to racism. Any student of multiple languages knows that there is never a direct translation from language to language, and as many times as the Bible's been translated, it retains very little of its original meaning.
This is not a civilized society. A civilized society would not look at a man born with fetal alcohol syndrome, a man with an IQ under 70, a man who was intellectually disabled, missing a fifth of his brain, who took three lives while high on drugs, and decide to execute him. No.
Years ago there was a report where a self-defined "crunchy" mother raised her child on nothing but organic, "natural" foods, personal care products, etc. and tests revealed that the kid was still filled with a bunch of chemicals that broke her heart. Is there even a way to raise a child without filling them with unhealthy substances? Perhaps if raised in the wild with no couches, homes, clothing and other items filled with fire retardants and other chemicals... even then I'm not sure if it's possible.
Each year we witness more and more species declared extinct, but this year's 23 animals are especially sad as we witness such glaring declines in species numbers. The ivory-billed woodpecker is one of the species that has really broken people's hearts, but what is really heartbreaking is the cause of these species' extinction, which is mainly us.
Adaigo Teas has some of the cutest packaging you'll find in the tea world, and their sweet Halloween-themed tins are back! This set of six Wicked Teas is so cute I want them all, even if I'm not a fan of coconut, which is in the Ghoul Gulp blend. Each tin makes around five cups of tea (more if you like it weaker, less if stronger) and has seriously adorable Halloween additions, like eyeballs, pumpkin sprinkles and confetti. Each one is a little bit of the season in a cup!
Southern Breeze announced the exciting news that they'll have two NEW limited-edition sweetened teas for sale starting today. New Sweet Cherry and Blood Orange flavors look so tasty and I can't wait to try them both. I think I'll like cherry best, but who knows? I predicted that Blackberry would be best last time and fell in love with mint instead.
Getting all of your needed vitamins and minerals each day can be a difficult task, whether you live in a food desert, you are on dietary restrictions or experience many other variables. Many people try to make sure their nutrients really count. For example, if you're going for servings of veggies and fruits, many people try to eat broccoli and blueberries since they're nutritionally dense. If you're like me, you also try to get them as cheaply as possible at places like Aldi.
It's pumpkin season, which means many of us want to smell like pumpkins all of the time and there's NO shame in that! Some companies love the pumpkin scent so much they sell their blends all year and I'm so grateful for that. I'm looking at you, Hexennacht and Sugar & Spite!
If your national animal were a chimera or a dragon, would you be for it or against it? Some countries actually have animals that don't exist as their national mascots. Dragons, unicorns, the phoenix and other mythical creatures are the national animals in countries like Scotland, Wales and Bhutan.
Dairy Queen announced their flavor of the month and it's a big one for fans of cookie dough and Reece's Pieces. The new Reece's Pieces Cookie Dough Bizzard looks super filled with both, and it also includes DQ's famous peanut butter topping blended in. The colors also make it perfect for fall and Halloween!
