Let Kids Help in the Kitchen
For months, my daughter insisted that she hated mashed potatoes. She would only eat raw, sliced potatoes, snubbing her nose at anything smashed. She wouldn’t give them the time of day, no matter how we made them—garlic, butter, cheese, whatever—and refused to eat them at all. One day, my husband decided to let her help peel and mash them, which she did with her traditional enthusiasm—and once her creation was complete, she gladly ate a whole two servings of them and pronounced them delicious. She’s loved them ever since.
